All The Nigerians Breaking Records At This Year’s Paralympics

The 2016 Rio Paralympics are currently ongoing and our athletes are making us super proud!

Nigeria is currently 11th on the table, and we have 8 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals in total. Our athletes have also broken a number of world records and paralympic records and it is so beautiful to watch them achieve all these feats! Here are the athletes and the records that they have broken.

1. Ezeurike Roland – Powerlifting (Men’s 54kg)

Ezeurike Roland lifted 200kg and broke a Paralympic record. He won a Gold Medal.

2. Kehinde Paul – Powerlifting (Men’s 65kg)

Kehinde Paul lifted 220kg and broke and Paralympic record and a World record. He won a Gold Medal.

3. Ejike Lucy – Powerlifting (Women’s 61kg)

Ejike Lucy lifted 142kg and broke a Paralympic record and a World record. She won a Gold Medal.

4. Onye Lauretta – Women’s Shotput

Onye Lauretta threw her shotput over a distance of 8.40 meters and broke aWorld record. She won a Gold Medal.


5. Omolayo Bose – Powerlifting (Women’s 79kg)

Omolayo Bose lifted 138kg and broke a Paralympic record and a World record. She won a Gold Medal.

6. Ugwunwa Flora- Women’s Javelin Throw

Ugwunwa Flora threw her Javelin over a distance of 20.25 meters and broke a World record. She won a Gold Medal.

7. Orji Josephine- Powerlifting (Women’s +86kg)

Orji Josephine lifted 154 kg and broke a Paralympic record and a World record. She won a Gold Medal.
